- Remove Inlet check valve and pump body
- Retrieve isolator bearing from isolator (use screws in Toolbox)
- Install 2x 18.v111 o-rings with generous anti-seize grease to inner diameter O-ring grooves in isolator bearing
- Install 4x hose barbs into isolator with PTFE tape on threads
- Re-insert the isolator bearing with holes aligned 12 and 6 o’clock
- Wipe plunger clean of grease
- Re-install pump body and inlet check valve assembly
- Cut 4 short lengths of supplied tubing sufficient to connect to the top and bottom hose barbs to a Y-piece connector each
- The remaining length of tubing can be split in two to sufficiently reach the quench liquid container (supply and return) and the peristaltic pump
- Peristaltic pump can be set to around 60-100ml/min flow rate, specification of pump should match duty cycle of the machine i.e. pump needs to run for 4 hours if the batch is 4 hours.
- Quench fluid should contain some form of surfactant to help lubricate the o-rings, it is best to test as if the fluid could be product contacting
- Quench fluid volume can be anything convenient but for Algenuity batch length I suggest I larger volume i.e. a few litres – this fluid should be monitored for signs of seal failure (cloudy materials in liquid) and temperature
- Test machine with water and ensure quench fluid is container
- Machine now must always have quench pump running when intensifier pump is running
